East Swindon Deserves a Better Bus Service

We need a direct bus to Greenbridge and GWH

We have had a lot of feedback on the doorstep, at surgeries, and community coffee mornings that people in Liden and Eldene need a direct bus route from east Swindon to the hospital.

The "bus gate" from Liden Drive to Marlborough Road has sat unused for many years, and it is past time to bring it back to life!

Currently, from Eldene and Liden you would need to get the 13 or 14 to Queen's Drive, get off, cross the road, wait, and then get the 1, with all the associated waiting. This is a significant undertaking for someone needing a hospital appointment.

There is also no route along the full length of Dorcan Way, so no way to travel directly between Coate Water and Greenbridge. We believe a direct route to the hospital along with access to Greenbridge could make this bus route commercially viable.

We welcome the fact that Swindon Borough Council has been awarded £3.2m in bus funding from the Labour Government over the next three years, and we’re calling on them to use that record investment to support a new direct service.
