Carers Lewisham fundraiser Last Friday I spent a lovely afternoon celebrating the 25th anniversary of Carers Lewisham. Carers Lewisham are a local charity who provide a wide range of support for people who care for, or support, relatives and friends who have mental or physical disabilities or illnesses.

As part of their 25th anniversary celebrations, they have set themselves a challenge – to get 250 supporters to pledge to raise at least £25 for Carers Lewisham.

During my time in Parliament I have met some of these carers whose huge contribution to society often goes unrecognised and who struggle to get the assistance that they need. For them, Carers Lewisham provides a life-line. I was delighted to organise an afternoon tea to raise some much-needed funds so that they can continue their fantastic work.

It was a pleasure to be joined by local faith leaders, representatives from local charities, Councillors and Mayor Steve Bullock to celebrate the work of Carers Lewisham – and what better way to do that than drinking tea and eating cake!

The event raised £150 in total. Thank you to all who attended and to Hither Green café Rhubarb and Custard for making, and generously donating, the lovely cupcakes.

You can see a couple of photos from the event below.
