Time to make Hither Green Station fully accessible

28 April 2017
hither green access Yesterday I attended a protest over the lack of step-free access at Hither Green station.

For years I’ve pushed the Government to ensure that Hither Green benefits from funding to improve accessibility, yet they have consistently tried to kick this into the long grass.

Government "Access for All" projects have historically funded upgrades to railway stations across the country to ensure that everyone can access vital public transport. But now the Government is withholding £50 million worth of funding for future projects, including Hither Green Station in Lewisham.
It is clear from the decision to defer Access for All funding that accessibility for those with mobility impairments is low on the Tories’ agenda.

It’s not right that disabled people, the elderly or parents with buggies are left struggling to use local rail services.

You can help by signing my petition calling on the Department for Transport to act.
