Visiting Trinity School

Exams must be equal to all This morning I had the pleasure of visiting Trinity School in Lee for their year 11 citizenship class. The school really has transformed in the past three years with a brand new building, a great new headmaster in Father Richard Peers and pupils getting five A*-Cs going from 27% to 64%.

The citizenship class had to decide on a political campaign as part of their project and agreed that youth unemployment should be the project as they see it as the biggest issue for their generation. It absolutely is – Lewisham’s youth unemployment has gone up by 21% in the past year. After a presentation on their views, I answered their questions on youth unemployment and gave them tips for how they can make an impact with their campaign.

I’m sure I’ll be hearing lots about the campaign in the next few months!
