Cleaner Streets Summit As the Member of Parliament for Lewisham East, many people contact me to share their views about local and national issues. One of the most common problems raised with me in Downham, Grove Park and Whitefoot is the quality of the local environment. I have seen first-hand that there is a problem with fly tipping, litter and dog fouling and so, with this in mind, I want to work with residents to discuss how we can make our local streets cleaner.

On Saturday 26th July 2014 at 11am at The Green Man (355-357, Bromley Road, SE6 2RP), I will be hosting a “Cleaner Streets Summit” to find solutions to the problems which blight our neighbourhoods.

The meeting will be attended by Lewisham Council’s Environment Team, Phoenix Community Housing and the local Safer Neighbourhood Team. It will be an opportunity for everyone to work together to come up with a plan to improve the quality of the local environment.

If you are a local resident and have any concerns about street cleaning, refuse collection, fly tipping or abandoned vehicles please come and raise them at the meeting. It would be helpful if residents planning to attend can let me know by emailing me or by calling my office on 020 7219 7099.

Residents who can’t attend the meeting on 26th July but would still like to make their views known can fill out this online feedback form. It only takes 2 minutes but could make a big difference in helping us to devise a strategy to improve our local area!

Downham, Grove Park and Whitefoot are great places to live but they could be better still if we get to grips with the unsightly and unhygienic dumping of rubbish. I look forward to joining local residents on 26th July to find a way to works to make the area cleaner, greener and safer.
