21 March 2010
North Downham Festival Along with Whitefoot council candidates, Janet Daby and Matt O’Mullane, I went along to the official opening of the North Downham Community Festival at Goldsmiths Community Centre yesterday.

It was good to catch up with local projects and learn a little bit more about what makes Goldsmiths such an important hub for the local community. I joined two of Lewisham’s young mayor’s advisors, Ebony and Paige for the official opening – Ebony did the ribbon cutting honours as you can see in the photo above.

There was a fantatsic healthy eating pop-up cafe, some great karate andf keep fit activities in the main hall and even a collection of farm animals (and some scarier species) for the young ones. I felt very proud of the fact that I let a tarantula climb over my hand!

Huge congratulations must go to Jane and her oolleagues for putting the festival together. I would have liked to stay longer but I had a long list of doors to knock on in Catford and Downham - one of the perils of being a parliamentary candidate!
