On Sunday I enjoyed a lovely couple of hours at St Laurence’s Church in Catford celebrating Barbados National Day. After a packed service (attended by the Deputy High Commissioner of Barbados, Donville Johnson, and Haringey’s Deputy Mayor Eddie Griffiths), we were treated to a fabulous talent show from the young people at the Church, followed by an equally fabulous lunch. Unfortunately, I was part of the judging panel who were given the tricky job of chosing the winner of the talent show. After much deliberation, we settled on a talented young singer called Ebun – the competition was stiff though!
Thank you to everyone who made the day possible and to Revd Charles Pickstone for my invitation. It was a lovely celebration and it was wonderful to be made to feel so welcome – true Caribbean hospitality in the heart of Catford.
