Oona for Mayor of London

Last night Lewisham East Labour Party hosted its first interational evening and we were thilled to have one of our aspiring London Mayoral candidates join us. It was a great event with food from across the world and a brilliant speech from Oona King.

Whilst I struggled with who to back for the leader of the party (I decided on Andy Burnham if anyone is wondering), I didn’t really have to think twice about who I wanted to by Labour’s candidate at the next London elections. Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of admiration for Ken and think he has done a huge amount for Londoners during his career, but I just think it’s time for some new blood.

Oona’s always struck me as somoene with huge energy, vision and passion. I think she’d be a great advocate for London and would really represent what our fantastic world city is all about. She’ll stand up for the ordinary Londoner but will also be realistic about how best we can tackle the big problems that we face – the lack of ffordable housing and gun and knife crime to name just two.

Anhyow, she was great last night – just hope she enjoyed it as much as we all did! You can read more about here campaign on her website: www.oona4mayor.com.
