People’s Day

HA and muriel

Had a great day in Mountsfield Park for Lewisham People’s Day. It was another brilliant event (all credit to the organisers) and it was a great opportunity to meet up with some old friends and enjoy the finest that Lewisham has to offer – the Young Mayor’s stage was particularly good this year.

I spent some time wandering around all the stalls and also drew the “regeneration raffle” at the end of the day. Entrants were asked to answer a series of questions about the regeneration plans for Lewisham (the answers were easy if you read the information board in the “regen tent”) and the winner receives a unique “Lewisham” version of monopoly (the board has been modified so that all the place names are within the borough of Lewisham – I’ve decided I want one for Christmas!).

The most frustrating aspect of the day for me though had to be when I was pipped to the finish line by Martin (my partner) on Lewisham College’s 500m rowing challenge. He beat me by 5 seconds. If I hadn’t been so exhausted from my efforts the first time round, I would have definitely demanded a rematch.
