Merry Christmas to all

It has come to that time of year again where I get to do one of my favourite parts of my job – judging my Christmas card competition! Every year I write to all the primary schools in my constituency, asking local children to submit their designs for my card. I am always delighted when I receive envelopes full of glittery, shiny and colourful pictures from the very talented children in our area.

It was a tough decision to choose the winner, but I finally decided that the picture I would use would be the Christmas scene designed by Chloe Hunter from Coopers Lane Primary School in Grove Park (above).

On Friday I visited Coopers Lane’s to personally thank Chloe for her picture, and had a great morning watching the school’s assembly and taking questions from pupils.

Thank you also to the runners up of the competition whose designs are on the inside cover who are from Baring Primary School, John Ball and Launcelot. Since there was so many great designs, I also awarded ‘special commendation’ awards to Lisa and Ivy from Coopers Lane Primary (pictured below with Chloe and I).

I wish everyone in Lewisham and beyond a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
